2019

NVEEE Day

On the eve of NVEEE celebrating 10 years of mentoring, and bullying and suicide prevention education, Commissioner Eileen Higgins presented the organization with a Proclamation naming November 16, 2019 as NVEEE Day in Miami-Dade County.

Luminary Award

SAVE’s annual Luminary Awards honors local young professionals for their contributions toward the LGBT community. On Sept 18, 2019, NVEEE’s founder, Jowharah Sanders, became a recipient of SAVE’s People’s Luminary Award.

100 Outstanding Women

Each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County honors 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County to celebrate how far women have come in leadership roles in the business, community and philanthropic fields. In 2018, NVEEE’s Founder and Executive Director, Jowharah Sanders, was recognized as a stand out leader in the Broward community. Congressional Record • Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Presented in the halls of Congress, by Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, NVEEE and twenty of its student leaders were invited to Washington D.C. to visit the White House, tour Congress, and receive a Congressional Record.

Congressional Record • Congresswoman Lois Frankel

For its community partnerships, including being awarded a Be a STAR grant from the WWE, Congresswoman Lois Frankel presented NVEEE with a Congressional Record.

On behalf of the Congressional Anti-Bullying Caucus, Congressman Michael Honda recognized NVEEE’s bullying prevention efforts throughout the United States, and presented NVEEE with a Congressional Record.

Community Leader of the Year

Presented by the Aqua Foundation for Women, NVEEE’s Founder & Executive Director, Jowharah Sanders, is a recipient of the Community Leader of the Year Award during The Aqua Affair, a fundraising event where the community gathers to celebrate the work that Aqua does in giving back to women in the LGBTQ community.

Outstanding Leadership in the LGBT Community

Presented by Safe Schools South Florida, NVEEE’s Executive Director, Jowharah Sanders, is recognized for her outstanding leadership in the LGBTQ community, specifically around raising awareness for the harmful effects of bullying, and providing community-wide prevention education.

Ujima Leadership Award

Presented by Black Gay Pride South Florida, Jowharah Sanders was presented with the Kwanzaa Ujima Leadership Award. Ujima is a commitment to active and informed togetherness on matters of common interest. It is also recognition and respect of the fact that without collective work and struggle, progress is impossible and liberation unthinkable.

Secret Millionaire Non-profit Awardee

Philanthropist, Chairman and CEO of Camping World, Host of MSNBC’s “The Profit” and “The Partner”, Marcus Lemonis, appeared on ABC’s Secret Millionaire and awarded NVEEE with $35,000, a vehicle, new camper trailer from Camping World..

Community Leadership Award

Philanthropist, Kimberly Shenker-Bacardi, presents NVEEE’s Founder, Jowharah Sanders, with a Community Leadership Award during an annual charity event.

Congressional Record • Congresswoman Frederica Wilson

During the launch of NVEEE’s “Not On My Watch” Anti-Bullying Campaign launch in Washington D.C., Congresswoman Frederica Wilson presented NVEEE with its first Congressional Record for its work in Miami-Dade schools and communities.
