Mentoring Program




The Mentoring Program pairs adult mentors with student mentees and manages the mentorship through monthly contacts. The Mentoring Program also hosts two main events for participants of the program: Monthly Mentoring Mondays and Mentee Meets.

Our primary participants are students who participate in the Peace Ambassador Leadership Program (PALP), or other high school youth who apply and are accepted into the program.

Application Process

Mentor Requirements:

  • Attend the 1-hour mentor training
  • Complete an application
  • Complete a level 2 background check
  • Provide three personal references
  • Complete personal interview

Mentee Screening Requirements:

  • Attend the 1-hour mentee training
  • Complete an application
  • Obtain parent/guardian consent
  • Complete personal (mentee) interview

Important Details

Matching Process

  • An interview or survey of both Mentors and Mentees, where the following is taken into consideration:
  • Preferences of the mentor, mentee, and/or parent/guardian
  • Similar gender and/or ethnicity
  • Common interests
  • Geographic proximity
  • Similar personalities

Mentee Eligibility:

  • Be a current high school student in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Exceptions are made for youth participating in our leadership programs or councils. 

Time Commitment:

  • One-year commitment 
  • Meet for a minimum of 2 hours a month
