Letters to Orlando

Screen Shot 2016-06-13 at 1.33.31 PMMy name is Bree and I’m a senior in high school. I volunteer with National Voices for Equality Education & Enlightenment, a bullying and suicide prevention 501c3 non profit based in Miami-Dade and Broward County in Florida. In light of the recent tragedy we, the Youth Advisory Council, are wanting to show support the best way we can as young people with limited financial resources but powerful voices. We are asking the community to join our #LettersToOrlando campaign in order to send handwritten letters, post cards, drawings, poems, etc. of support that will be delivered to the LGBT Center in Orlando, the families and loved ones, and those recovering in the hospital.

We ask that you make the letters powerful, encouraging, authentic and full of love and support.  If you personally knew someone affected by this, consider sharing with their loved ones how they impacted your life and the lives of those around them. What were some of their favorite places to volunteer or visit. You may have shared special moments and got to see them do some amazing thing and now is the time to share those positive things with their families.  Additionally, keep in mind that some of the families may be finding out for the first time that their child is part of the LGBT community.

Some of these letters will remain at the LGBT Center as a symbol of our love. If you choose to write to a specific family please include their name on the outside of the envelope.  If you live in another country and would rather email something – send it to info@NVEEE.org and our council will gladly handwrite it for you.

Please mail your letters to
